Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria (“West Bank”) are LEGAL

Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria (“West Bank”) are LEGAL

“The San Remo Treaty of 1920, in which the victors of the First World War parcelled out the remnants of the defeated Ottoman Empire, created a geographical area called Palestine along both sides of the Jordan River.
Article 6 of the Palestine Mandate signed by the League of Nations in 1922 stipulated ‘close Jewish settlement’ on the land west of the Jordan River. The river served as the boundary because that year the UK created a new Arab country, today known as Jordan, by unilaterally bestowing the land east of the river onto the Hashemite dynasty and thus giving some three quarters of Palestine away.
That Mandate treaty obligation to settle the Jews in Palestine from the river to the sea has never been abrogated and endures today.”

Know the facts!

* The name of the area was Judea and Samaria from biblical times until 1950, when Jordan occupied the area, renaming it “the West Bank”.
* All Jews living in Judea and Samaria (“West Bank”) were either killed or forced out of the area during Jordan’s illegal occupation of the area which started in 1948.
* There’s no such thing as the “67-borders”. These “borders” are armistice lines from 1949, when Israel and the Arab neighbors stopped fighting.
* Jerusalem has never been the capital of “Palestine” or any Arab entity.

* Judea was renamed “Syria Palaestina” by the romans in an attempt to minimize Jewish identification with the land of Israel. Under the Ottoman Empire (1517-1917), the term “Palestine” was used as a general term to describe the land south of Syria; it was not an official designation.
* No independent Arab or Palestinian state ever existed in the geographical area once known as “Palestine”. The area was ruled by Britain from 1917 to 1948, and before this the area was part of the Ottoman Empire for 400 years.

What Has Israel Ever Done For Peace?

image

Israel is a nation that has lived under a cloud of aggression since the first day of its re-establishment. It’s a nation that has been attacked numerous times by its “tolerant” neighbors. It’s a nation that has offered the Palestinians the entirety of Gaza and almost 100% of Judea and Samaria. It’s a nation that makes huge concessions in the name of peace, concessions that are often met with bullets, bombs and rockets.
Can you really blame Israelis for being more skeptical than ever when it comes to giving away land for “peace”? What do they get in return… peace? It shouldn’t be called “land for peace”, but “territory for terror”. Israel should have no obligation whatsoever to sign any paper or give away any more land until they see a serious peace partner on the Palestinian side.

Most Israelis support the establishment of a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria, but only if it means a real and lasting peace.. That says a lot doesn’t it? Israelis want peace and they want it so much that they are even willing to give away most of Judea and Samaria, which is the cradle of Jewish history, religion and culture.

And then we must all ask ourselves: What has the “Palestinian peace partner” done for peace? It wouldn’t be a very long list, would it? And yet, the blame is put solely on Israel for the lack of peace in the Middle East. Absurd!
